Jill's sister, Morgan, brought it to our attention last night that the name "Ethan" is the third most popular baby name for 2006! I "googled" it and found that BabyCenter.com just posted their list (even though 2006 technically isn't over yet). The Social Security Administration also puts out their official list, but theirs won't be out for a while (they updated their 2005 list of names in June of this year).
We were surprised to see Ethan that high on the list. When we were first looking at names we told each other that we didn't want one of the top "popular" names, but it looks like we went and did it anyway! And then we went and looked at lists from previous years, and it seems that "Ethan" has been a popular name for a few years now. Oh, well, at least we didn't name him "Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel".

I can't believe that "Elijah" is ranked higher than "Kevin".
Yeah, we ended up doing that with Jacob, although we didn't know it until after the fact. Oh, well, at least it's pronounceable.
