When we were pregnant with Ethan we loved reading up on how he was developing as he was "baking". I guess it was "first-child" enthusiasm that drove us to want to know everything. We read books, had a nightly journal, read email newsletters, and even consulted a doctor from time to time. It made us really appreciate the little things that make the human design so amazing (and just think - it all happens by complete random chance![/sarcasm]).
Having another one hasn't lessened our awe at all. In fact, we get to see it all over. Once again, here we are with our next series of "State of the Baby":
The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

Reading up on how baby is growing will never cease to amaze you. I did the same thing with all 5 of mine! With the last one I had to go in every 2 weeks for an ultrasound (the doctor was trying to find out why i go into early labor). Talk about amazing! I am so excited for y'all!
We have a book that sort of does the same thing. It is fun this time showing Caden and Carter what the baby looks like. Caden sort of got into it with Cole, but is really into it this time around!
