- Much of the time is measured in weeks, not months. So the pregnancy should last 40 weeks (approximately 9 months).
- By day 21 the heart has already started forming.
- By day 27 a tiny liver has formed.
- By day 36 the cerebellum has started developing
- Day 44 marks the day when the earliest recordable brain waves will occur
- If the baby grew as fast right after birth as it is growing right now (first 45 days), it would measure 15 feet tall by the time it was one month old!
- The baby now measures between 1/2 and 2/3 of an inch in length. It might be tight, but two babies this size could play in the cap of a liter-size plastic bottle.
If we have learned this much in just 47 days, just think about how much there is in the remaining 219!

I hope it's OK for me to jump in here! I am elated to be praying for all of you as you experience this crazy ride you are beginning! I want to hug you and cry and point at you and laugh all at the same time. I will begin now to pray for a couple to enter your close-by lives (if they don't already exist) who you can trust to keep and love your baby, and even allow you to relax and enjoy a romantic escape now and then, knowing your precious treasure is safe! You two were that couple for us. Thank you for sharing our first years as new parents -- oooooh, we wish we could be there RIGHT NOW! We love you and look forward to your delightfully written updates!
