Beady-Eyed

Over the weekend we made our annual trek to Louisiana for Mardi Gras weekend. Ethan is getting much better at keeping himself busy in the car. We didn't have to break out the new DVD player until the second half of trip. But we learned that we will need to buy more Elmo's World DVDs.

Saturday morning we went out for the Alexandria, LA Children's Mardi Gras Parade. We weren't really sure why this was called a "children's" parade - no children were in it, nor were there an abundance of kids in the audience.

Ethan was a quick study. It didn't take him long to figure out to wave and yell for beads.

After an hour and a half, we had a good share of beads...

But "a good share" was not enough for us! So we went with MawMaw, Uncle Kennie, Aunt Vickie, Justin, Nonnie, Poppy, Aunt CC and Alex to another Mardi Gras parade in Natchitoches, LA (official city motto: "We're not Nacogdoches!").

Thankfully the rain cleared up in time for the parade!

Ethan and Aunt Vickie avoiding the cold!

And this time, we not only got tons more beads, but Ethan snagged a football, a recorder, and a few stuffed animals! Yay Mardi Gras!
