As the start of a spring/summer project, we planted a vegetable garden in the backyard. Building this thing was an adventure in iteslf. It involved a couple of trips to Lowes, a car that sagged under the weight of 24 cinder blocks, 10 bags of topsoil, some Miracle-Gro soil, and some assorted vegetable plants and seeds. This thing better give us the best vegetables ever.
The Houston soil isn't exactly the ideal type to grow a home garden. So with the cinder blocks, we built up a garden that we could fill with our own soil. Ethan got his very own spade and helped dig the holes for the plants and the rows for the seeds. We planted cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, carrots, and onions.
To help measure the progress, we thought it would be cool to take a picture of the little gardener with his garden every week or so...

The interesting part is looking at when we can expect to harvest all of the veggies. Our longest wait will be the onions - they won't be ready until September! I hope we'll feel like eating some onions then...

I like how Brad is using an Ethan-sized spade in that first picture. Hopefully having the garden elevated has kept your veggies from washing away from all of the rain y'all have been getting.
