Over the weekend, the three of us went away for a weekend away together. We wanted some fun bonding time and boy, did we get it! This was kind-of our "babymoon" trip before Kinley comes.
Back when we were pregnant with Ethan, Jill and I took our babymoon in St. Louis. Seeing that we wanted to take Ethan with us on this one, I booked us on a weekend at the new JW Marriott in San Antonio - finally cashing in on my Marriott points that I collected from work.
For a road tip like this, the first order of business was to stock up on snacks. Jill got her Twizzlers, I got my Dr. Pepper Jelly Belly's, and Ethan picked out the orange Laffy Taffy! And Ethan got a huge kick out of getting the truckers to honk their horns. Pretty soon, we were asking every truck to say "hi".
After one stop as Buckee's, we made it to the resort. It was beautiful! We spent Friday evening "exploring" the whole place and getting the lay of the land. Ethan immediately was deemed our elevator (or as he said, "aligator") button-pusher. We scoped out the pool to find the ideal place to go later.
As we were "exploring", someone told us of a s'more roast going on at one of the fire pits. At the sheer metion of chocolate and marshmallow, we decided that since we were on vacation, it was okay to eat dessert before dinner.
After dinner we went back out to the pool. It was shallow enough in some areas for Ethan to walk, but he was more interested in playing on his new kickboard.
Saturday morning it was time to go back out to the pool. The only problem was that it was 70 degrees, cloudy, and windy - not the ideal conditions for a dip. Thankfully, the resort's pools and lazy river were heated to a nice, warm, 86 degrees! The only bad part? Getting out to get our towels!
But getting out didn't faze Ethan at all. He having a ball jumping into the pool, climbing out, and repeating.
This whole time, we've told Ethan we were in San Antonio. As a result, he thought the resort was "San Antonio"! So Saturday evening we took him in to the real town.
First, it was dinner at Casa Rio and their multi-colored umbrellas.

Then after dinner we went on a boat tour of the Riverwalk. Fun and informative!

Sunday was Mother's Day and the last day of our little trip. We sent Mommy off to the spa to get a prenatal massage, while Ethan and I busied ourselves on the golf course. The course we played at was the new TPC San Antonio, which was getting ready for the Valero Texas Open this week. While we didn't play the professional course, we played the one next to it. At least we practiced where the pro's did!

I've created a monster! Ethan had a great time and now he wants to do nothing BUT play golf!
